The special presentation of Asher Bilu’s Infinicopia is officially open.
Infinicopia forms part of the Asher Bilu: Early Works 1956-79 exhibition. The vast, 12 x 9 metre floor-based installation forms an intricate and expansive sculpture composed of separate interlocking pieces, each constructed from a varied number of hand-painted shapes.
You have just two weeks to view this remarkable work that has taken over Brighton’s iconic Town Hall.

Kids will be amazed by Asher Bilu’s installation Infinicopia on display now at Brighton Town Hall. This 12 x 9 metre artwork is made up of hundreds of hand-painted shapes. After exploring the installation with our friendly educator, children can make their own sculpture to take home.

Advantage Road Open Studios – Save the date 🎨
Join us for a day that promises to be filled with art, creativity, activities and the lively community of artists and makers along Advantage Road in Highett.
Advantage Road is the creative hub of Bayside with over 20 studios held by local artists, including painters, print makers, textile artists, ceramicists, sculptors, and more. This artistic precinct boasts a rich and diverse group of creatives, showcasing the talent and skills of the Bayside creative community.
Open Studios is a free event and open to everyone and features entertainment, music, and kids activities. Plus, there will be opportunities to meet the local artists, explore and purchase artworks, and enjoy demonstrations by painters, print makers, textile artists, ceramicists, and sculptors.

Call for entries – $15,000 Ellen José Art Award for young women
The Ellen José Memorial Foundation is providing a $15,000 non-acquisitive award to a female visual artist aged 18-35 years working in any medium. Managed by Bayside Gallery, the Ellen José Art Award for young women is a partnership between the Foundation and Bayside City Council and aims to provide support to young female artists in the early stages of their career.
Entries close 1 November.
Studio space for artists – applications now open
The Billilla Artists Studio Program for 2025 is now open for applications. We have 5 free studio spaces for 11 months to offer to artists from Bayside and across Victoria. We are seeking high quality applications from people in the arts sector including artists, writers, composers, filmmakers, sculptors, performers, and designers.
Submissions are due by Sunday 20 October.
