Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his father's publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry.        

As we approach our colder weather, Linden New Art has many exciting program opportunities to help us ease into changing seasons, no matter age and ability. Below, I will list four individual events and programs that we ask for your help in promoting. If you have any questions please be in contact and as always, we’d love to see you there too!

  1. MEET THE ARTIST > THE ESCAPE

Sunday, April 16, 2-3PM

Join curator and artist Anna Garcia Solana as she discusses her ongoing curatorial project Fire Escape through the lens of her current exhibition The Escape. The artist talk with take place in Linden’s Projects Space.

  1. LINDEN CREATES > FOUNDATIONAL DRAWING PROGRAM

Every Tuesday from May 2 to June 6

Time: 6.30PM – 9.30PM

Cost: $500, all materials provided

Foundational Drawing Program is a six-week program designed for complete beginners and for those who wish to refresh the fundamentals of drawing and engage with contemporary ideas of expanded drawing practices.

Using pencils and charcoals as the primary medium, the program dives deep into the fundamental elements of drawing, including line, space, texture, shading, composition and perspective.

  1. LINDEN CREATES > BASKET WEAVING MASTERCLASS WITH HELEN PHILIPP

Saturday, May 6, 11AM-4PM

Cost: $110, all materials provided

Discover the art of basket weaving with local visual artist and sculptor, Helen Philipp. In this creative and relaxing masterclass, you’ll explore various shaping techniques and start your own woven basket using Madagascan Raffia.

Saturday, May 20, 1PM-2PM

Family Friendly Event

Join Kate Robinson, an Iranian/Australian artist, for a fun workshop inspired by Abdul-Rahman Abdullah’s exhibition, Journeys.

This events starts with an exhibition tour and then a dive into imaginative design to create our own magical animals with modelling clay, gems and glitter!

Linden New Art acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which

we operate, the Bunurong Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin nation and

pays respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
