Jan Swinhoe has been elected the new president of Athletics Australia, replacing Mark Arbib, who has stepped aside after six years in the role.
Swinhoe, who first joined the AA board in 2014 and has served as senior vice-president, becomes the first woman to hold the top role.
“I am incredibly proud and appreciative to the board of Athletics Australia for their faith in my ability to lead our sport forward,” Swinhoe said.
“It has been remarkable to be involved in the growth of Australian athletics since I joined the board in 2014 and it is a great honour to be given the responsibility of president as we embark on a new chapter in our sport.”
The Australia track and field teams enjoyed considerable success at the recent Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games.
Next year shapes as another important one for the sport, highlighted by the world championships in Eugene, Oregon, and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
