There’s something for everyone to enjoy this summer, thanks to Council’s Live Love Local Summer Sessions, a series of entertainment activations to help re-energise Port Phillip.

From outdoor movement classes and face painting to live music and food pop-ups, three grassy spaces across the City will come alive with free entertainment to help support traders this summer.

Mayor Marcus Pearl will launch Summer Sessions on Friday 17 December at Cleve Gardens, St Kilda. The event features a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony as well as live music and a neon light show.

More live music follows on 18 December at Burnett Grey Gardens in Ripponlea while over at Town Hall Reserve in South Melbourne, children can test their footy skills when St Kilda Football Club hosts inflatables fun with face painting and live music.

Summer Sessions is made possible with the support of the Inner Metropolitan Partnership and funding from the Victorian Government. Cr Pearl said the Summer Sessions initiative will support local musicians and artists while providing a boost to local trade through increased foot traffic.

“Port Phillip is well and truly open for business. I encourage residents to come along and enjoy the Summer Sessions entertainment on offer in their own backyard as well as visiting some of our fantastic traders.”

Summer Sessions will see six fortnightly events take place, with further activations scheduled at each of the three sites. A diverse range of entertainment is planned, including mini-golf, physical activities, children’s games and live music.
