Linden New Art has launched a new art prize created to support two mid-career artists to pursue new directions in their practices. JUNCTURE, as the name suggests, is designed to encourage radical change, new thinking and conversations for both the artists and the audience. JUNCTURE is a platform to elevate those on the precipice of the new in all its potential forms. JUNCTURE will support two mid-career artists with a cash prize of $20,000 each and an exhibition at Linden New Art that realise these exciting new directions in their practices.

“It is an important pillar in Linden New Art’s strategy and a commitment to continue to support mid-career artists on many levels,” says Linden’s CEO and Director, Vincent Alessi.

“Financially, the funds will enable artists to develop their practice, explore alternate ways of making or help them connect with others to pursue new ideas and knowledge. How the funds are used will be determined by the artist. The exhibition provides a platform for the artists to present the outcome of their research and investigation at a future date in a public forum. It is exciting to be part of an initiative that supports mid-career artists to continue to be innovative and take risks, to offer them a prize that is all about what they wish to do next.”

The funds can be used for any purpose in support of the artist’s aspirations. JUNCTURE aims to relieve limitations that inhibit artists pursuing their innovative ideas and advancing and pushing their practice. Mentoring opportunities will be determined by the artists in that they will decide how and who they wish to work with as provided by the prize.

Applications are open to all Australian mid-career artists and open from 23 January to March 3, 2023
