Lighting as Emotion
Stepping out of the studio and into Sydney for Saturday Indesign earlier this month was a welcome opportunity to pause and reflect on the medium we work with every day. I joined the Design Discussion series at Nook Collections in Surry Hills to explore a core premise of our practice: Lighting as Emotion.
Joined by fellow designers Genevieve Wild (Wildly Illuminating) and Jason Gibney (JGDW), and moderated by Kate Goodwin, we explored how light shapes human emotion, wellbeing, and atmosphere far beyond its technical function. We unpacked the ways subtle shifts in warmth, shadow, and materiality turn physical architecture into emotive sanctuary – a reminder that the most impactful light is often the light you feel before you even consciously notice it.
Design Spotlight: Wall Lights
Wall lighting demands an exacting level of finish. When a piece sits directly at eye level, every material detail matters. Our wall light series explores the subtle balance between raw metalwork and delicate hand-blown glass.
From the floating geometric silhouettes of XYZ to the trophy-like brass platform of Dais, each piece is engineered and assembled right here in our Melbourne studio. Designed with customisable metals and glass finishes, the collection offers tailored pieces that integrate seamlessly into residential sanctuaries and commercial interiors alike.
Open Studio
Open Studio is taking a break this month (Grand Final long weekend), but we’re back Friday 30 October. It’s always great connecting with everyone in person, so if you’re nearby, drop in to check out what’s currently on the floor, grab a drink, and catch up with the team.
