Victoria’s LGBTQIA+ summer calendar is beginning to take shape, with Midsumma confirming 15 regional Victoria’s Pride projects, opening registrations for the 2027 Pride March and locking in the return of the Victoria’s Pride Street Party.
Midsumma Festival 2027 will run from Sunday 17 January to Sunday 7 February 2027, bringing together three weeks of arts, performance, community events and major public celebrations across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The major dates now confirmed are Midsumma Carnival on 17 January, Midsumma Pride March in St Kilda on 31 January, and the Victoria’s Pride Street Party on 7 February, which will close the festival.
Victoria’s Pride reaches further into regional Victoria
This year’s Victoria’s Pride program will include 15 regional projects, giving LGBTQIA+ artists, creatives and communities opportunities to develop work and celebrate queer life within their own towns and regions.
Projects stretch across Victoria and include queer songwriting and poetry in Beechworth, cosplay and creature creation in Bendigo, photography in the Mallee and projects exploring LGBTQIA+ history in the Wimmera.
Midsumma says the regional program is designed to increase LGBTQIA+ visibility and connection outside metropolitan Melbourne, with locally led projects ultimately feeding into the statewide Victoria’s Pride celebration.
Minister for Equality Steve Dimopoulos said the program was intended to ensure Pride celebrations reached communities across Victoria, while supporting LGBTQIA+ artists and communities to create events close to home.
Victoria’s Pride Street Party returns to Fitzroy and Collingwood
The regional program will culminate in the Victoria’s Pride Street Party on Sunday 7 February 2027, taking over the Gertrude and Smith Street precinct across Fitzroy and Collingwood.
The free, all-ages event will feature live music, performances, DJs, queer artists, community organisations, food, local traders and activities throughout the precinct.
Midsumma describes Victoria’s Pride as an annual statewide celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride, visibility and connection, delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government.
The Street Party has increasingly become one of Melbourne’s large-scale summer community events, using the long-established cultural precinct around Gertrude and Smith Streets as both a performance space and gathering point.
For 2027 it will also carry a ceremonial role, bringing Midsumma Festival’s three-week season to a close.
Pride March returns to Fitzroy Street
Closer to home for Port Phillip, registrations have also opened for the 2027 Midsumma Pride March, to be held in St Kilda on Sunday 31 January.
More than 10,000 registered marchers traditionally travel down Fitzroy Street, with spectators gathering along the street, balconies and surrounding precinct before celebrations continue around Catani Gardens.
Participation is free, with registrations open to community groups, organisations and individuals.
The march is scheduled to begin at 10.30am, with participants assembling around Ian Johnson Oval before making their way down Fitzroy Street and finishing at Catani Gardens. Midsumma says registrations will close in November 2026.
For St Kilda, Pride March has developed into much more than a parade.
Each year it temporarily transforms Fitzroy Street and the surrounding neighbourhood into one of Melbourne’s largest LGBTQIA+ gathering places, bringing community organisations, businesses, sporting clubs, advocacy groups, families and individuals together in a very public expression of visibility and solidarity.
Midsumma’s spectator information currently lists the event as free and all-ages.
Three Sundays anchor Midsumma 2027
The confirmed dates give the 2027 festival a clear three-Sunday backbone:
17 January — Midsumma Carnival, Alexandra Gardens
The traditional opening celebration of the festival.
31 January — Midsumma Pride March, Fitzroy Street and Catani Gardens, St Kilda
The annual march through one of Melbourne’s most historically significant LGBTQIA+ neighbourhoods.
7 February — Victoria’s Pride Street Party, Gertrude and Smith Streets, Fitzroy and Collingwood
The statewide Pride celebration and closing event for Midsumma Festival 2027.
The full Midsumma Festival 2027 program is scheduled to be announced on 24 November 2026.
For Port Phillip audiences, however, the date already worth circling is Sunday 31 January.
That is when Pride March once again belongs to Fitzroy Street, Catani Gardens and St Kilda.
