2024 Bayside Painting Prize winner announced

Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his father's publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry.

2024 Bayside Painting Prize winner announced 

Exhibition dates: 3 May – 23 June

Artist Linda Judge has been awarded the $25,000 Bayside Painting Prize for her painting Self portrait as my mother 2023.

Announced at the opening night, Judge was selected from a group of 46 finalists drawn from more than 600 entries across Australia.

The exhibition is on display at Bayside Gallery until 23 June. Visitors to the exhibition can vote for their favourite painting to be recognised with a $1,000 People’s Choice Award, which will be announced upon the closing of the exhibition.

Beckett Local Prize winner

Also awarded at the opening night was the $10,000 Beckett Local Prize, awarded to artist David Ralph for his painting Jeanie 2024 which will become part of the Bayside City Council Art and Heritage Collection.

A new mural is bringing colour and art to the park behind Church Street shopping village 🎨

Artist Peter Daverington’s mural design creates a trompe l’oeil effect incorporating a finely detailed landscape in the romantic tradition with a geometric framework giving the illusion of three panels.

Graeme Altmann – Outdoor Arts Lab Artist Talk

Experience the Outdoor Arts Lab at Billilla, where artists innovate in outdoor and spatial performance.

Join Graeme Altmann as he delves into his latest creation, The sound between the trees, exploring storytelling and heritage inspired by the beautiful landscape of Billilla Gardens.

Bayside Chamber Orchestra – Merriment in May 🎻

Bayside Chamber Orchestra presents a delightful afternoon of chamber music featuring winds and strings. Performing works by Boccherini, Strauss, Martinu and Glinka, the orchestra will showcase master works for small ensemble.

Time: 3:30pm-5:00pm
Location: Brighton Town Hall cnr Carpenter and Wilson Streets
Cost: Adults: $25pp | Concession: $20pp | Children 10 years and under are free
