Honouring our volunteers – and a new Manager
at Christ Church Mission’s Community Centre, St Kilda

Volunteer Week is with us and we’re saying thank you to our volunteers with a BBQ Party on Wednesday 22nd.   Details below (replies needed) but first, can you help us to handle the record numbers knocking on our doors?:

Click Here if you would like to donate to help us to continue to handle that demand.  Donations are tax deductible.  The pressure on our food cupboard is the greatest we’ve known.   Help needed.

Our new program – Neighbour Connect –  is up and running every Monday.  And to run it, Sharon Shea (the “Active” one in the middle above) has joined us as facilitator.  More welcome!   So far we have had poetry sessions, art classes (yes, that’s the art they’re showing off above), a Nepalese dumpling cooking demonstration, crocheting and plenty of chit chatting over lunch.

It’s official – Penny Matthews has never pursued a career in acting so the good news is she is no longer our Acting Manager BUT delighted to be in the role of real Manager.  Congratulations Penny who you will see above.  Penny is looking forward to the exciting future of St Kilda’s Little Mission working closely with Marie, Kat and Sharon to maintain our existing programs and to develop new ideas and partnerships.

Eat and drink to help us!

We need help so please donate by clicking on the “Click Here” button at the top.   And how about a short term opportunity to eat and drink you way to helping us.  Have you experienced the Lion & Wombat in Grey St (just up from Barkly St)? Here’s your chance – it’s raffle time! Check this out!! ‘Help people doing it tough and WIN a $250 Lion & Wombat gift card. We’re raising funds across May for The Little St Kilda Mission who help our local community with emergency relief, material aid and meals. Purchase your tickets in the pub, pay with cash or card. 100% of proceeds go to Christ Church St Kilda – the Little St Kilda Mission. Our winner will be drawn on 1st of June 24 and will be contacted over the phone. How good is this? Still on the topic of food (one of our obsessions!), we have a donation jar at Grill’d Windsor for the month of May so there is still time to pop on down, buy a burger, and put your token in our jar.

Yes, autumn leaves.  They’re everywhere!   Thanks for all the support we receive.

We love our friends dropping off long life food items (aka “pantry items”) for our Emergency Relief Program.  If that’s not an option for you, tax deductible financial contributions are welcome and another way of helping.
