Badinage
(George Lane Matinee Sessions)
Post-rock instrumental darlings Badinage are proud to launch their latest single Banter at a special George Lane matinee session. This is the first single from their forthcoming second full-length album, which sees the band exploring new aural soundscapes, characterised by driving rock rhythms overlaid with sweeping melodic orchestration.
“Badinage paint a massive pulsating sonic painting in their music: glittering, shining and anthemic with an instrumentation that recalls the music of bands like Died Pretty with the emotional impact and pulse quickening thrills of Sigur Rós or Mogwai.” (Backseat Mafia EP Review 8.5/10) Support on the night is Catherine McQuade and the Perfect Storm

Melbourne Ska Bar Edition 2
Ska punk outfit Admiral Ackbar’s Dishonourable Discharge hails from Melbourne, Australia. Made up of Toffer Rush-Vocals/Guitar, Matt Sexworth-Guitar/Vocals, Crow-Bass/Vocals, Dan-Drums, RISTOVSKI!-Sax/Vocals, the dishonourable Barnaby Joyce-Tombone/Vocals, Taffy-Trumpet/Vocals and Brendan-Trumpet/Vocals. Known for fast, nonstop live shows, laced with self deprecation and party fairs, the roving gang of angry nerds are notorious for fun, zany antics, and extremely liberal use of cusses and insults.
Self described as sounding like if Frenzal Rhomb were to push Reel Big Fish down the stairs as Operation Ivy stared on slack jawed.
One time players of a wedding, regular perpetrators of chaos, and once described as a cheap knock off of Fishbone by some guy, Admiral Ackbar’s Dishonourable Discharge pride themselves in dysfunction

Pinky Beecroft (Machine Gun Fellatio)
Pinky Beecroft is an unpredictable thing. He was the singer songwriter and front-person of Machine Gun Fellatio – a band known for legendary live shows, extreme off-stage shenanigans and a string of radio hits. At the height of their success Pinky abruptly quit the circus and disappeared. There were rumours: he’d gone into hiding in Norway; he’d relocated to the Arizona desert; he’d passed away. Thence followed mourning, weeping, whispers, conjecture, alleged sightings.
Some facts: Pinky has played some rare and wonderful solo shows, recorded albums, won an ARIA Award for Song Of The Year and performed sell-out tours as a stand-up comedian. His eccentric presence has featured on TV shows as eclectic as The Glasshouse and the World 9-Ball Championship. And now after many, many years away he’s coming back to Melbourne, for one night only, to play at George Lane.

The Julia Deans and Jonnie Goes To Church Show
Julia Deans and Celia Church have been crossing musical paths since the early ’90s — from Headless Chickens and Banshee Reel, to Fur Patrol’s #1 hit Lydia and Celia’s acclaimed collaborations with Jon von Goes. When they finally met in Melbourne, their voices blended effortlessly and their friendship has been inseparable ever since.
Julia has gone on to become NZ rock royalty, with Silver Scroll and Taite Prize nominations, solo albums, and collaborations with the likes of Neil Finn and Tami Neilson. Celia has toured, recorded, and built a rich catalogue with Jonnie Goes To Church — their debut album drawing praise from Tim Rogers, Angie Hart and Rebecca Barnard.
Now, for one special night, the Julia Deans return to Melbourne for a show that brings it all together: a little Julia solo, a little Julia & Celia, a little Jonnie Goes To Church, and a lot of magic from a quarter century of sisterhood and song.
